Hmm, first of all I must say that I don't agree with "categorizing" anyone, because that leads into stereotypes, but just for fun, here's some of the ones that I've seen and/or used myself in the past.

butch

femme

tweener

sporty dyke

dykes on bikes

diesel dyke

lipstick lesbian

softball dyke

"femme butch" (the ones that look butch but have to have their hair just right and all the designer named accessories, kinda high maintenance)

feminist lesbians

granola dykes

the dorky/emo/punk artist lesbians

the "non-conforming" lesbian (the ones that dont like to be grouped in with other lesbians)

drag king lesbians

the "player" lesbian (the one that tries to get as many women as possible)

the "thug" lesbian (the ones that dress all hip-hop and look like gang bangers)

the "confused" lesbian (these are the ones that THINK they're gay, but keep boys on the side)

You know, the more I do this, the more I realize that these types of people exist in ANY culture, not just lesbians.

I think we are all on a continuum of sexuality.
At one end is the homo-phobic, never even looks at the same sex, person at 0%.
At the other end is the hard core, only the same sex, repulsed by all of the opposite sex at 100%.
Very few people are 0's or 100's
Someone Bi-sexual would be a 50%
We all fall somewhere on the continuum. I would say I am like 25 or 30% Gay. I am not going to actually get involved or sleep with a woman, but I find some women attractive.

First of all a disclaimer - categorising doesn't really work, as people never fit easily into categories. Regarding feminism and categories, there are many lesbians fighting against the categorisation of lesbians. But, here are some categories that I have come across; feminist lesbian, activist, radical, femme, butch, bisexual, 'pretend' lesbians (ie. adverts and music videos)....so - dont categorise, take people for their individual merit!!
