Start - Run
type msconfig[enter]
Go to the start up Tab.

Enable an item by clicking the box (placing a check in the box) and disable by clicking to clear it.
Reboot.

1. check for the start->all program-> startup and if any entry delete same
2. on run type msconfig. utility starts check for start up. disable all the entries not required and restart your system after applying it and okeing it.

I agree with all of the answers so far, but be very careful with msconfig since it is hard to tell what you are unchecking. I'd google all of the programs you can't identify to see what processes they are first.
