Does smoking affect growth?

im 16 n i afraid smoking will affect my growth...does it affect my growth?

To my knowledge there are no definitive studies that establishes that smoking affects the growth rate.

However it is very likely it does. Smoking is basically a very fast method for ingesting a poison, that poison being tar, nicotine and other chemicals directly into the lungs and therefore into the blood stream. These are products which will limit one's effective use of energy, minimize O2 metabolism and therefore potentially affect the growth rate.

smoking affects every thing i smoked for over 30 years and i stopped about 7 years ago and my food has got a taste to it now pluss if a smoker knew just how bad it makes them smell they would not smoke and even after this long without them i still reach in my pocket for them you are still young so quit while it is easy

Smoking affects the color of your teeth (it makes them yellow), the looks and elasticity of your face (it gives you wrinkles around the mouth), and severely damages your lungs, causing you to get cancer and die. Are THOSE reasons adequate enough to make you stop? If not, I don't know WHAT is....

yes!quit smoking! my husband is 5'6 his brother & sister r over 6' he started around 13 -- growth is the least problem smoking causes-- everyone knows about cancer but did u know it can cause impotence?

Yes it does as do the thousands of other toxins in our environment .Please don't start i could be rich today had i not started smoking at 12
