i'm not sure, i've only heard what i'm thinking of a couple times. does it have kids singing that goes like, "we are, we are, the youth of a nation". i only listen to rock and this song seems to fit the discription. it's Youth of a Nation by POD. hope that's it.
it's pretty hard to figure it out, you didn't give us a lot of information. anyways, you can go on the internet and look the lyrics up for the song i gave you. it doesn't really talk about drugs though, just guns and suicide...

This is likely not the song, but it is the closest I could think of. Tim McGraw sings a song called "Drugs or Jesus". It fits the "guy singing" and "calm song".

You know? When I first read your question "Gangsta Paradise" came to mind.
I know is performed by Coolio, and that makes it Rap. But the classic leit motiv gives it a special tone that kind of takes the rap out.
Is from the 1990's but it is still played a lot.
