Yes they really live in the trees... and as far as the noise goes... it has to do with some air sack between their head and front legs... don't really know how or what for... just know its there... if ya ever catch one and watch it 24/7 till it starts croking then ya'll see what I'm talkin' about...

Yes they live in the trees. They have adhesive pads on their toes with the help of which they get attached to a branch (Normal pond frogs have webs between the fingers for swimming)

The noise is made by the males to attract a female.

The noise is made with the help of the vocal sacks that are located at the ventral side of the lower jaw, just closer to the fore limbs.

It depends on where you live.
In Australia there are 11 'Tree Frog' species which live in a great variety of habitats, some on trees, like Litoria infrafrenata or in rocky crevices like Litoria splendida and some live in a variety of habitats like the Brown Tree Frog which lives in coastal swamps, lagoons and forests
