I honestly think that some organisations are so busy trying to be "pc" that they never actually achieve anything. For example if you had been the victim of a crime a few months ago, you may have had to wait an extended amount of time for the police to attend as they were busy arresting a shopkeeper for selling "gollys" in his toy shop.

If you have an issue with political correctness, then why not contact your local councillor. He or she will take it up with the appropriate committee and the Chair will put it on the agenda and you can go to your local library and read the minutes of the meeting afterwards. You'll probably find the minutes of council meetings in the reference section near the books for ethnic minorities. If you have a problem you can also ask you local department for Social Inclusion and Health for help. This is a government initiative and was until recently being promoted by John Prescott, the deputy Prime Minister. He has experience of really socially including his staff. He is of course better known for his ownership of Jaguars. He presented the Trophy at Silver-stone when Britain last had a world champion formula one driver. However, calling Damon Hill, Damien, just before the race started was less than politically correct. But soon, this Cameron fellow will scrap the ratification of the European Convention of Human Rights by the UK parliament. It doesn't appear to benefit us English much does it. No doubt he will get rid of The disability Rights Act and the Commission too. Bad idea, giving people rights, open to all sorts of abuse, you know. But Gordon Brown being a canny Scot, will have a few tricks up his sleeve. He may be robbing the poor to help the rich now! But what about his pre-election budget? Then he will remember that tiny proportion of the population that actually go out and vote. The old, the sick and disabled. But he will probably concentrate on the old - senility tends to make them forget his past insults and derisory pension increases - not to mention the tax credit fiasco. The sick, well it's politically correct not to actually call them that - they are simply incapable of work and need a little help and motivation. A cut in benefits being a good way of motivating them. It's a shame about the Liberal democrats, but they have to elect a chair to just to decide what to have for lunch!

PC, is a device for turning Minority groups (which have been promoted by the government and the TV media) against the majority. It's the opposite of what happened in Nazi Germany, where it was the minorities that were persecuted. But it's divide and conquer, whoever uses the tactic, the Right or the Left.

PC, for me, and you tend to think of the Human Rights Act here, seems to operate mainly in the following arena's. Feminism, multiculturalism, Racism, compensation culture, nannying, one parent families, health & safety police, and so on. It's main apologists are, Educationists, this government, most of the TV media, supported by their friends in the various pressure groups. Oh! and the public sector of course.

I think that PC complements the female approach rather than the male approach. It's,' would you like to talk about it'? or, 'how do you feel about it? Not, what do you think about it. Of course, the biggest division PC has created, is that between men and women. Smokers, and non-smokers etc.

I had to research PC for a university paper. The findings were interesting.

Virtually every story I researched was fake. Blackboards were never banned, Baa Baa Sheep was never banned, Christmas was never banned.

Those stories which had truth to them we were given half the story. For instance a shop keeper had been stopped by teh council for putting up bunting with the S George Cross. This was painted as being "PC". Turned out it was health and safety and "any bunting" was not allowed to be put up.

In the very rare occasions stories were true is was because whoever had started it had believed in PC lies and thought it should be carried out where they worked.

Bascially, PC is great for newspapers because it doesn't libel anyone and gets people's backs up. What you should be asking is "WHo has been a victim of PC" and then pursue the story to the source. You'd be surprised... I was.

"political correctness" is an insidious form of censorship that was initiated during the early 1990's.

A lot of it was political and maybe also behavioral. Some believe it's purpose was to influence and control the behavior of the vast number of "followers" who exist in every society. Control of that group would be advantageous in a voting situation.

Others think it was a top-heavy Joke that flopped.

Well, an interesting question.... I believe there is a very fine line between PC and rude behavior, and interestingly enough the very people that make such a stink about PC are the rudest of all..
Does anyone ever watch talk shows... Montel Williams, Oprah, the View, Maury... any one of them..? How about the court tv shows, Judge Judy, Joe Brown...
Have you ever noticed that the guests, or the people who air their dirty laundry on the "court tv" shows, how they act...
The things they say, do and the disrespect they show for themselves and their hosts...
In the vast majority most of them are black that act the fool.
How's that for PC?
I think that everyone old enough to understand the racial polictics of today's society understands that it is the blacks, and mexicans who do the most 'screaming' about being called African Americans, and Hispanics. I don't hear too many Irish yelling because no one is calling them Irish Americans, or the Asian population screaming about not being called Japanese Americans, etc... My son, in high school years ago, was NOT encouraged by the school to be a part of 'African American Week', so he simply said, fine... I am going to start getting everyone together for a "WASP week". It made the news, he was a racist, and almost got expelled as a result... Heh... Wait a minute... The ones who screamed the loudest, the ones who threatened him, the ones who called him names.... were the same ones who just celebrated "African American Week". HMMM.... So who really has the problem here...
I mean I could take the stance that since a specific race is so adament about being from Mexico, Africa, Japan, wherever, then go back there....
I can tell you why they don't... In Africa, they wouldn't have the freedoms they have here, they may be relegated to a specific clan or tribe of people that require them to act a certain way. Those in Mexico, living in poverty, without health care, food, clothes, etc.. because the Mexican infastructure is so corrupt, but heh.... Complain about things in American enough and we will feel sorry and show you, regardless of your behavior respect, so just keep on demanding, that's right..
In my book, the only culture that deserves to be called anything PC is NATIVE AMERICANS, and I am not talking about the ones that play Cherokee on the weekends. I am refering to those that LIVE, BREATH AND DIE by their culture and heritage.
I know that my ancestors came here from Sicily, I know my AMERICANISM was a gift of birth, not by demands made to call me 'Sicilan American". What a crock of crap... As greatful as I am to be an American, you can call me whatever your little heart desires, I could care less, for I am American, pure and simple, and not a damn thing you could ever call me will change that. Only my actions and behavior can accomplish that, and I assure you, I will NEVER DISRESPECT my gift...
I don't want to offend anyone, but as equally, I really don't care either..
If you want to be called Hispanic, go back to Mexico. If you want to be called African American, go back to Africa. I am sure some social service in this country will gladly buy your one way ticket..
However, if you want to be American, then get over yourself, join the rest of us in the world where you can choose not to listen to a dirty joke because you don't like swear words, or not look at the gorgeous body on the poster by the water cooler because, like me your jealous it's not you looking that good... Stop pretending that your fragile ego can't be subjected to this manner of disrepectful language, then go and behave rudely just because your black, mexican, or whatever...
You don't like Howard Stearn, don't listen. You don't want to hear a dirty joke, walk away. You don't want to watch porn, then don't.
Just don't force your ideals on me.. I won't force mine on you..
Fair deal...

i think of the national protection reason is a sturdy one for Benghazi, and a foul one for the AP and IRS scandals. there is not any tale with Benghazi, and proving that there is not any longer something to it may in all risk harm embassy protection (which hasn't been all that sturdy in the years previous Obama the two). i think of the IRS scandal will become no longer something plenty as nicely, however the folk have the nicely suited to be responsive to what occurred and it may be explored further--and if the well-known public's thought of the tale the clicking is putting out is close to to the mark, then there are severe issues to restoration. (If fact does not experience the present version, i will think of of abuses of capability with the aid of the republicans, yet as you element out, it does not do a great variety of sturdy to show out each and all the cases your warring parties push aside the form and American strategies whilst your part is going to do the comparable element.) The AP scandal is the main suitable out those. Like Bush could have whilst he exchange into called out with the aid of the libs on Gitmo and Valerie Plame, this is an risk for Obama to take charge and take duty. If he leads the government nicely and units up sturdy anti-snooping/privateness protection regulations (for each individual, no longer purely the government) and brings the government in line with that as maximum suitable he can, then he can squash that scandal with the aid of turning it into an risk. If he leads in the different course and springs to a decision to enable anybody use any information they are in a position to get their palms on against all people, he is going to especially harm the Democrats and help the extensively anti-government nutcases income help. i think of ways he handles that one scandal will define his administration--the different 'scandals', Obamacare, Bin encumbered--none of which will count--all which will count is not any count if individuals nevertheless think of they're residing in between the main loose international locations in the worldwide--and how he handles that stands out as the attempt. we could desire to come again to a determination--is wikileaks the way forward for information, is suppression the way forward for information, or are we going to attempt to locate a nicely-balanced midsection floor (between loose/cheating and controlled/to blame, no longer left and suitable) lower back?

I agree, PC ,its becomes de riguer, and I'm tired of it. We cannot tell a joke because someone will be offended, we cannot hire the best person for the job, because another ethnic group will be offended. What shall we do?

I'm so sick of people being so worried about offending people with opinions and whatnot. I'm not against using tact or consideration, but it's all going a bit too overboard when one can't express their thoughts open and honestly.

Oh how I wish all this pc stuff would go away, I am so bloody sick of it. It is so out of hand that it's affecting my personal freedom - my freedom to be who I am - Is England trying to be like other countries that oppress their people?

PC is way too far! You have to make sure you know your audience inside and out before you open your mouth. It's ridiculous.
