Who's seen the movie Rent?

Who's seen the movie Rent, based on the award winning broadway hit? Tell me what you thought of it and who was ur favourite charactor.
I thought it was a great movie, that inspired me to never hesitate and to live every day as my last. I think it has a great message. My favourite charactor is Mimi.

I adore Rent. Its my all time favorite musical and it is one of the only things that I can really say has changed my life.

I'm not the biggest fan of the movie. The movie is a very mediocre one, and - with a story that original and good - it could have [and should have] been an amazing one. The only saving grace of the movie, I feel, is the cast - deciding to get almost the entire original Broadway cast of the movie was a very good decison! But I feel that the movie really should have been so much better. I wasn't happy with a lot of Chris Columbus' [the director] decisions - but its definitely not as bad as it could have been - a few years earlier there was a script buzzing around the Rent community that not only cut out most of the songs but involved JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE starring as Mark - but I was still disappointed.

But I don't want to be all negative! Rent - the story and the stage version - is truly amazing. It seemed to have a similar effect on me as it did on you, it helped me to live everyday to its fullest and to really LIVE my life.

As for my favorite character, that's so hard! I really love all of them, and can identify with parts of all the characters. I probably like Mark or Angel best. Or maybe Mimi. I love Angel because she is so amazingly sweet. Everytime I've seen the show [and movie] I've just *sobbed* when she dies. Angel changes the lives of everyone she meets, and I wish I could be as amazing as she was.

Mark I also love because I've been where he is - I have felt like just the person who documents what's going on around them, instead of interacting.

And I love Mimi because she is the only character [besides perhaps Angel] who REALLY lives everyday like its her last. That's so inspirational.

I am SO sorry this reply has gotten so long - but I really looove Rent!

Rent is my absolute favorite movie of all time. I was originally a fan of the musical, so when i heard the movie was coming out i was really worried they might kill it. But Rent was perfect in every sense of the word. I'm a rent-head, so i doubt there is any way i could have hated it. It really is an under-appreciated movie, because it is so inspirational and touching but some people can get past the serious issues it deals with. My favorite charater is Mimi as well, i can identify with her on so many levels, but i am just in love with the entire cast, especially Adam Pascal. He is god's gift to musical theatre!

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!! I first saw the play in New York City, and then I was so happy when the movie came out. It has a great message and I love that it's not afraid to go places where other plays have never gone before. My favorite character is Angel, because she brought the whole group back together at her funeral at a time when they needed it the most. She was also the one who saved Collins from possibly dying in the beginning.

Me and I love it! My favorite character is Roger, the tormented musician. He so wants to be with Mimi, but he's honorable and won't do so if there's a chance he can hurt her. He rejects her because he thinks he's not good enough.

I love Mimi, too... especially because it's Rosario Dawson (and I loved her in Josie and the Pussycats!).
