One thing I should mention, someone said you could ask Cingular if you're eligible for an upgrade, those upgrades usually are only available a) near the end of your contract and b) with a one- or two-year contract extension. The reason they offer those deals is because they'll make the money back on the (likely heavily) discounted phone they sold you over the next couple years. Yeah, it sucks, but they're a business. Otherwise, just try and find one somewhere else. Just make sure it's useable for you (for example if you're on one of their old grandfathered plans it may not be compatible and you'll have to switch to one of the newer plans and maybe pay a fee or two in the process, but they can tell you if you call them).

Cingular needs to deliver a configuration text fabric message on your telephone. Take the telephone to Cingular keep and function shopper help configure it or you are able to call Cingular tech help. A telephone could be unlocked so it somewhat works on any community, yet T-cellular & Cingular additionally locks some menus so which you would be able to no longer mess with the internet configuration. There are some complicated hacks you're able to do to launch those menus yet i does no longer advise it as a results of fact it may turn your telephone right into a brick.

You can buy a Razr from just about any retailer without having an agreement.

My question is this, do you already have service and are looking to just change phones? Or do you need service and the phone?

If you already have service, you can see if you are eligible for an upgrade. This way, you can get the Razr at a discounted rate. If it isn't time for your upgrade, then you can still purchase the phone, but it would be for its full price.

If you don't have service, then it won't do you much good to purchase the phone. But you would still be able to do so for its full price.
