Which name do you like more?
I like Gabriel because it's unique and easy to say and people are reminded of the archangel, Gabriel.
Gabe is shorter, but a lot of people seem to get it confused with Dave and sometimes, gay...

A person named Gabriel can also go by the name Gabe. I think they both sound good.

The Scriptures do *NOT* indicate that Gabriel was an archangel. That designation is applied only to Michael as the single leader of all the angels of God.
Jehovah's Witnesses note that Jesus ("the Lord") calls with an archangel's voice:
(1 Thessalonians 4:14-16) Jesus died and rose again, so, too... the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel's voice
Thus, it seems that Michael and Jesus are the same heavenly person!
