I adore Rent. Its my all time favorite musical and it is one of the only things that I can really say has changed my life.

I'm not the biggest fan of Rent the movie, though I love the stage version. The movie is a very mediocre one, and - with a story that original and good - it could have [and should have] been an amazing one. The only saving grace of the movie, I feel, is the cast - deciding to get almost the entire original Broadway cast of the movie was a very good decison! But I feel that the movie really should have been so much better. I wasn't happy with a lot of Chris Columbus' [the director] decisions - but its definitely not as bad as it could have been - a few years earlier there was a script buzzing around the Rent community that not only cut out most of the songs but involved JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE starring as Mark - but I was still disappointed.

But I don't want to be all negative! Rent - the story and the stage version - is truly amazing. I just love the stage version much much much more than the movie. Its hard to move something that, when seen live, has so much energy to a screen, even if its the big screen.

I love RENT my friends and i watch it often. I think it has a great story plot that is very deep. you learn a mlot about suffering that you may not experience in high class towns. The mu\sic is great and verry catchy. I even got my parents hooked on it. for those viewing this that have never seen RENT go out and see it. you wont regret it.
