history has shown that dominant world powers will ultimatedly collapse to make way for aother new dominant power
this happened to the egyptians, the greeks, the romans and at one point, the Iraqis too
so we're in the age of America now, but who knows who will tkae its place?
i just dont want to be around during the transition period man cause that will really be difficult times

Given history without cataclysm third-world is unlikely. Rome, England, the French, the Dutch, the Portugese, the Spanish all were world powers and are not now third world countries. Though there are former empires that are now third world in South America and Africa, but those were generally due to cataclysms like weather or invasion or such.

Without strong leadership within our nation that our citizens are ready to follow? I think we already hear dissent. I do not think that the US would ever become a third world country, but if someone doesn't bring it to a whole nation with respectability - we will first lose the respect of other nations that we already have not, and then - frankly, I think civil war will break again within our borders. What comes after - depends on what happens now.

In order to deteriorate into a third world country, we would have to have a distorted and highly dependent economy devoted to producing primary products for the developed world and to provide markets for our finished goods; traditional, rural social structures; high population growth; and widespread poverty.
I don't think there's any danger of that happening to us any time soon.

"A house divided against itself cannot stand." Abe Lincoln quoting the Bible.
If we allow the divisiveness of both parties to continue...the USA as we know it may be on the verge of extinction. However, the USA as a strong world leader...until the end of days.

America is looking pretty sad right now. It's like America is down by 10 points at half time, it'll be hard but there's still hope.
