As every woman is different, everybody will start to produce colostrum at a different time in their pregnancy. I first noticed it when I was around 17 weeks pregnant. For me, I only got it, and still only get it with nipple stimulation. The earliest I have heard of a woman leaking colostrum in her pregnancy is at 11 weeks.

I believe that the leakage of colostrum during pregnancy can depend on a number of factors, perhaps the most influencial being if a mother has breastfed before. One could rationally theorise that if a woman has breastfed before, say 1 year ago, that she may leak colostrum earlier in her pregnancy, than another woman who is pregnant for the first time.

I'm going to include an article from a book of mine that I think you might find useful.

"My mother says she had milk leaking from her breasts in the ninth months; I don't. Does this mean I won't have any milk?

The thin yellowish discharge that some pregnant women can express, or may notice leaking from their breasts, is not milk. It is a premilk called colostrum. Richer in protein and lower in fat and milk sugar than the breast milk that arrives three or four days after delivery, it contains antibodies that may be important in protecting the baby against disease.

Many women, however, don't have any noticeable colostrum until after delivery (Even then, they may not be aware of it until baby starts to feed.) This in no way predicts a lack of milk or difficulty in nursing"

Hate to tell ya hon, but I know from expirience that you can leak colostrum even before the test is positive! That's how I knew I was pregnant with both my kids. (my son is two, and I'm eleven weeks along with baby # 2) True milk usually doesn't come until after the baby is a few days old. Just in case you don't know already, colostrum is the glucose rich, antibody and white-blood cell containing, thick, yellowish pre-milk that gives the baby what he/she needs immediately after birth. True milk is thinner, more abundant and has a higher fat and water content as well as a different mix of nutrients better suited to slightly older newborns that meets their caloric needs for the first six months or so.
