Lets say for a day or 2 i didn't have any problems with my DSL modem constantly getting disconnected and stating "Local Connection 3, Cable is Unplugged" But ever since a small storm one day, then a somewhat bigger storm the next day. I am constantly getting disconnected and on top of that i get Static or a loud Static noise on my phone. We have only been living here for 2 weeks and the phone has been grounded(which got uncovered during the rain storm) and hooked up for like a week, and we have only have had DSL for just as long as we have had the phones hooked up. I have called Embarq and they will be here on Tuesday. I also got little ringing in the background. All the filters are hooked up. What do you think might be causing it. Also i am not using a wireless router, i am only using one computer. Even when i hook the phone straight up to the jack or even connect a phone straight up to the box outside, i still get that loud Static sound over the phone.

When you hook up your phone without a filter and your DSL modem is plugged in to your phone line and turned on you will get the static sound.

Try first unplugging our DSL modem from your phone and power. Then try making a phone call. If you are still having problems with your phone then it is your phone line.

Check your outside jack and if you are still having a problem then the problem is with the link from the outside of your house. If the outside jack does not have a problem but it does inside the house then the problem is your inside wiring.

If the problem with the phone goes away when you turn off and disconnect your the DSL Modem then it may be your modem, filters, or a combination.

You might want disconnect all of your phones from your phone line and do a similar test with your DSL. Check to see if it connects from the inside of the house. Then check it on the outside of the house.

Good Luck.
