"Best" for one person may not be "best" for another person. It depends on where you work, whether or not you have kids, how much you can afford, etc.
Frisco and Plano are well-regarded for their schools and quality of life, but they are very suburban in atmosphere, which some people don't like. They are also pretty far north, so if you work in central Dallas then you will have a long commute.
Try adding detail to your question, or asking the question again, with more information about what you are looking for.

I would recommend Colleyville or Grapevine. Both are central to the Dallas Fort Worth area so it is easy to get to either Dallas or Fort Worth and very easy to get to the DFW airport.
There is a lot to do in the area, housing is reasonable, particularly compared to other parts of the country and even Dallas.
Money Magazine named Colleyville as the best place in TX and in the top 60 cities in the US. Good schools along with Grapevine, low city tax rate.

The Savannah Subdivision won awards for life quality. This community is located of Highway 380 between McKinney and Denton. Prosper is becoming and upscale community with acreage. Frisco and Plano have high quality schools and good life quality. Dallas metro keeps expanding north.

Waxahachie is about 20 minutes south of Dallas. I lived there for 6 months and it's wonderful. It is an authentic Victorian town with a famous courthouse and is also the place where "Places in the Heart" was filmed.

Mckinney for value, Grapevine for resources and a nice lake and close to downtown, l think it's best in dallas itself, the 5 miles or so just north of downtown between white rock lake and the tollway,

Frisco and McKinney and that whole area is booming right now. It's the fastest growing county in the state. very nice place to live. if you are looking for something closer to downtown, Carrollton and Plano are good. they are very centered in the metroplex. other nice suburbs: Southlake, Highland Park and Flower Mound.
