What cables do I need? What software do I need? I bought a usb cable and tried to do that- but the port is not enabled. Help!

You may be able to record video out from the DVR to your PC using a video recording card or a USB video input adapter.

A friend does this with a DVD recorder and his DVR. Instead of recording to DVD, you'd record to a file on your hard drive. He uses the "Save to VCR" capability on the DVR to play the video out.

Pinnacle Systems makes several packages that might do the trick: Dazzle Video Creator Platinum and Dazzle To Go:
