Do the heating pad if you can, and I do a lot of meds, too, like the 4 Alleve (sp?).
Sometimes exercise and stretching can help, too. I even wore a band around my waist (it's a Curves brand), tightly, and that seemed to help. I'm really sorry you're experiencing the pain.
I just saw the previous person and she reminded me of something. If you are regular or are able to tell with bodily signs when you are getting ready to start, supposedly taking ibuprofen beforehand (building it up in your system) will cut down on the pain. And I agree with the other person - talk with a doctor if it doesn't get any better.

You could use a heating pad. Just sit under the heating pad--they will go away. I used to take 4 Advil every four hours. But then eventually I started throwing up and getting upset stomaches when I got my period and missed a lot of work, so my Ob/Gyn suggested I go on Birth Control. The Nuvaring stopped my throwing up/stomach problems and I hardly had any cramps. Good luck.

u know advil will work for that...it works for me...just take two of them and they will stop your cramps for the rest of your period...I can kind of relate with u on that because i have really bad cramps (im only 16) Mine are so bad that i miss days of school....but that happens when i dont take anything before it starts to cramp but i learned from that but the advil works really good u should try it ~Good Luck to ya i hope u feel better~

For me a hot bath really worked. the main thing you need to remember is to relax. Seriously. I have never takin a medication for my cramps, although i have never really had bad ones. I would try the alturnative methods before the medication, nothing worse then being not only on your period, but relying on medication! i would also try exercising too.. good luck!

ibuprofin always worked for me, and sometimes a heating pad or a little exercise will help.

If it continues to hurt extremely bad, you might want to think about seeing your gynocologist. Shortly after my periods began, I was diagnosed with endometriosis, and I was put on birth control to regulate it and to help with my terrible cramps.
