my periods haven't regulated just yet (haven't had them for long) and their timing between each one can be from 30 days - 60 days.
Im scared that when Im not expecting it it will come and I will be unaware and it will go all over whatever I'm wearing.
What can I do?
THANKS

Always be prepared by this I mean in your purse. As soon as you feel some wetness run to the bathroom. Good Luck!

DON'T take birth control just for the convience of regular periods. You sound rather young yet so your periods should take care of themselves in a few months. To take the hormones just to keep from "possibly" staining you outfit is saying your outfit is more important than your life. Birth control pills CAN kill you.
Panty liners come in small packs that you can carry in your purse or even jeans pocket. Other than, that carry a small calendar with you. If you faithfully mark the day your period starts and then mark ahead 21 to 24 days you'll know to be on your guard the next few days.

When a young girl starts her menstrual cycles it can take a couple of years for your periods to regulate. Your body is still learning what to do. How long have you been having them? Pads/Tampons are small enough to where you can always have one with you so when it does arrive you will always be prepared. There is a site that I use; www.cyclespage.com; it's a fertility site (but I just use it to track my periods), but what you do is go and mark their calendar on the first day of your periods and after 6 months it will start predicting for you when your next cycle should start (on the avg) also, if it continues to be a problem then you will have these exact dates and number of days between cycles to take with you to your doctor. Having those numbers and dates will help your doctor know which direction to go. IF you need to even go that route.

You should always carry something with you (tampon or pad) just in case. It often takes a year or even two for someone to get regulated when they first start. But the good news is, it isn't like it starts in a huge flow like turning on a faucet. It starts out with just a tinge of pink that you will likely notice when you go to the bathroom. It's pretty rare that someone just bleeds all over themselves without realizing it. And in time, you will become so attuned to your body and its cycles that you'll probably be able to sense it when you are about to start -- even if you always stay irregular. Don't worry too much.

If you are over 12 I would recommend birth control. Its a great way to regulate periods and you can get it without telling your parents. However I wouldnt recommend it if you're too young because its a lot of extra hormones. Whatever you do, always carry a tampon or pad just in case it happens when you dont expect it

Nothing much you really can do...keep a tampon or pad with u at all times and try to be in tune with ur body. For example like 3 days before I hit my period my breasts get really sore and the day of my ovaries feel sore...And you can always look for a change in attitude...if you feel a little more down then usually that would be a sign. Everyones body's different, so just look out for the differences between when ur not on ur rag and when u r. Best of luck hun, try avoiding white...

Well, don't worry about them being regular if you just started getting them...that's perfectly normal.

I've had mine for a long time now and I'm still very nervous about getting it when I'm not expecting it..just like you.

I always keep a tampon on me...at all times, just in case. You should feel at least a small trickle if it comes totally unexpected. Make sure to excuse yourself to the bathroom if you ever think that you might have started unexpectedly...usually you're right. But..just think about it..for me [personally] it would take a long while for it to come unexpectedly and for me to bleed through my underwear AND my clothes without me having at least some kind of clue. So, if it does come...the chances of you not noticing before it is totally obvious to everyone are pretty slim. I suggest if you ever feel like it's going to come soon [as in getting light cramps or feeling moody or whatever happens to you before] wear a pantyliner until it comes and keep a pad/tampon with you.

Either way...if it happens it happens and it has happened to just about every woman sometime...so try not to worry about it TOO much. :]

Well if you haven't had them for very long, then I am assuming you're very young. Go see a Gynecologist, and talk with him or her about your concerns. It could be hormones, stress, or even just your body adjusting! Make sure you always carry tampons or pads just in case. Don't worry about it getting all over what you're wearing, because you know when they start. It isn't a big explosion, and you'll have enough time to slip into the bathroom and take care of it.

Yes, if you want regular periods, then take a birth control pill. They will regulate your periods. Otherwise, perhaps once you get older they will regulate. But, womens' bodies change all of the time. So...it's not a guarantee. Good luck. If you are in the US, the Nuvaring worked well for me. No nausea or anything. :)

Period may not be regulated if you are stressed or change in eating habbits (like dieting) or on certain medication. If this happens quite often then you better seek doctor's advice. Not advisible to pill popping over the counter. For certain illness comes without warning.

well, i've had my period for over a year now and they still haven't regulated yet. it's not as bad now but i was scared also because my friend always knew the exact day she was getting hers. and here's also some advice, if you don't want to take birth control or other drugs, than just always keep a jacket in extra pair of pants in your locker or car. you may want to talk to you're doctor also about some advice he/she may give you.

goodluck ;-)
