I like being with multiple sex partners and do not know how to break the cycle so that I can settle down. However it's safe sex 99.9% of the time, I don't know how to slow down....

Help?!?

You cannot break the cycle through cold turkey. You need to understand the cycle itself, as its an addiction. You are covering up another problem which you're not coming to terms with.

The web site attached to this posting is very helpful and very clear at explaining the process of sexual addiction.

if you truly believe it is nasty and unhealthy:
hypnotherapy might be useful, or try replacing the habit you don't like with one that serves you better so there isn't an empty void there.

if you believe that it is nasty and unhealthy because of what other think and they've scared you with all their 1% disease speeches:
screw them...don't let their fear intoxicate you. it is possible to find a partner who likes multiple sex partners just like you do and the two of you can nessle down with eachother in mulitpile partner safe-sex bliss.

here's something you can check out for natural protection against stds (it's also a birth control agent if you are egaged in male to female sex) to be used with a condom.

option 3:
if you are open to alternative lifestyles, you can also look into becoming a dom which would allow you safe experiences with multiple partners (doesn't always direct sexual contact but it can) in which you would just have to find the right sub who excepts this kind of situation to settle down with.

99.9% don't worry nature will break the cycle for you with a nasty little surprise. there's nothing wrong with multiple partners assuming all are of age and consensual, obviously you're not emotionally ready to "settle down" yet. but if it's a concern to you i would suggest trying celibacy for a while, at least long enough for an accurate test in case of the .01% possibility, it will also give you time to work out what it is your looking for. perhaps its about you, some people confuse sex with love, when you love yourself unconditionally then you can love someone else.........good luck!!!

Having sex with multiple partners is not in itself nasty or unhealthy.

If you feel like you are no longer in control of your sex life, you have a few options. If you have the luxery of having health insurance that covers it or the money to do so, speak to a counselor about it.

Some people experience addiction to sex and this may be how a sex addiction manifests itself for you. If you don't feel this is necessarily the case, you may still benefit from a support group. Your local LGBTQ resource center is a good place to start to find supportive people that steer you in the direction of the resources you need.

Another lifetime ago, I dated someone with a sexual addiction -- among other things, he used the thrill he got from anonymous sex as his outlet for stress, and could not deal with stress in any other manner.

The bottom line is that sex is great and there are a lot of resources and support out there. Remember that you have nothing to loose and everything to gain by taking advantage of them.

Just stop....only do it with one person....it may be hard...but try doing it only with one person...dont give in..it will just make it harder....say to your self that its not making you happier..so what is the point...and if you are trying to settle down wit hone woman...then try finding that girl and dont be focused on the sex part....be focused on the love and where the relationship is going...and ask her how she feels about the multiple partner thing...if she is cool with it and you are not anymore...find a girl who has many of the same intrests as you do...it just might get ur mind of it!

What is wrong with having sex with multiple partners? Are you suggesting that people eat only one kind of food, that they only watch one television show, that they don't mark multiple choices when asked about their movie preferences? It is Christian/Muslim society condemning any sex other than sex for procreation that instills this guilt. Shake off the guilt and enjoy.

move to another far-away state without telling the partners where ure moving to, and plan to concentrate on ur work and other projects. Once u learn how to get satisfaction from things besides sex, u can be on ur way to settling down.

Let me tell you about my friend, who was straight and married, and contracted HIV,and died from a secondary infection this past year. She was my friend for over 22 years. Perhaps if her husband had slowed down, she would now be alive. Think about your friends,it only took 1% to kill her,as it will only take 1% to kill you. Either you want to live and slow down,or you want to die,and keep living the way you do,your life, your choice, but think about your friends and family,if you don't care enough for yourself, think about them, and good luck.
