Im just saying that in several interviews he didn't sound american.

Although he grew up in Kentucky he hates America, so he moved to France. It doesnt matter how old you are if your in a country for long enough you'll pick up the accent, thats probably the case here.

He hasn't lived in America for quite some time, though. Also- he IS an actor, and most actor's take voice lessons to learn accents, and can easily slip in and out of them. Take Nicole Kidman- she almost never sounds Australian in ANY role, but she has a very strong Australian accent.

I think it's sometimes hard for actors to slip out of character - to me he sometimes sounds like Keith Richards, which only make senses, since Keef was his inspiration for Capt. Jack.
