What do younger people in their late twenties do for fun nowadays? I need some ideas because I'm sitting at home and am really bored.

The movies are still a source of entertainment for all ages.
Now these days a lot of people end up at the local bookstores. Most just sit and read there. Quite a few bookstores now have coffee shops in them, so they might meet friends there as well. I know it's a popular place with the college crowd here. They all seem to go to the bookstore coffee shops on the weekends and study or just hang out.

This won't sound like fun on it's face, but stick with me for a moment.
I would recommend that you find a way to help someone else. Volunteer at a soup kitchen or a hospital a few hours a week. You'd be amazed at how your own life is just lit up by this.
Once you've begun to contribute to society in a meaningful way and have stepped outside of yourself, you'll begin to enjoy yourself without even trying.

well, i'm only 18 but here is some suggustions. do you play a guitar or any music. some people do that for fun. watch movies or of course the computer games. they also go out with there friends. and see movies skateing. swimming. or talk on the phone. or mybe draw i like doing that a lot. i love to draw. um, go driving. walk for fun.do you live near a beach? go out to eat. that's all i can think of right now. i hope i helped some.

Go to bars, clubs, music events, beaches, sports games, throw parties, movies. Most of the same stuff they liked to do in their younger twenties and teens, but just less of it because they have more responsibilities.

Usually on the weekends they can go out to a club with some friends or just chill at a bar. even a bar in Apple Bee's can be fun.

Who cares what other people are doing? Figure out what you're interested in and then do it. Someone will answer that they go out to bars but if you aren't into that scene, it won' interest you. Others will say they go to church socials but again if that doesn't interest you, it won't appeal to you.
Do some soul searching and do what's right for you.
Have a happy interesting life but make it your life, not someone elses.

ok, you start by saying "younger people" and end with you saying you are bored. How old are you? you worded it like you are older than that and want to know what "they" do because you are bored. If you fall within that age range then you should already know what people your age do.

Join a local club - biking, hiking, climbing, beer making, cooking, etc.
Volunteer at the local elementary school.
Become a call girl.
