Maybe because you know that if you aren't careful when you are "fooling around", one day, that pregnant woman could be your girlfriend. So, be sure to always use a condom and then you won't have to face what freaks you out.
I suspect immaturity also plays a rule. Hopefully, as you age and marry, you will change your views.
