How do you feel about people from New Orleans coming back to Houston if another storm hits them? Would you prefer they went elsewhere, why?

Went Elsewhere for sure, bunch of darn criminals is what we got. I think we seal off the city from those varmints. I hate to say it but they have over stayed their welcome and need to get along now. Charity is fine but when it turns to dependency that is another story all together.

I take people on a case by case basis and don't want to stereotype people just because they are from a different environment. Many of the people who came here are decent, honest people whose only crime was being too poor to get out quicker and/or pay for their own lodging elsewhere.

On the other hand crime went up 25% here in Houston after Katrina and there is the "Katrina" effect at play here. A lot of the good, honest people from New Orleans were followed by the worst of the worst of New Orleans gangs and thugs. I want them gone permanently. HPD has a huge number of them under surveillance. It's taken a while to figure out who they are and where they are staying but most of them are in pockets of southwest Houston, an area known for gang activity.

I would prefer that Washington, D.C. take them in next time. Specific locations would be the White House, and any Senate or Congressional building. Why? I think that if government officials had to personally take care of the victims they wouldn't be so slow to act next time...and maybe they'd spend the money necessary to properly protect the city of New Orleans.

of course there is good and bad everywhere, but we got an increased crime activity, i live in bellaire, tx and we had attempted robberies just in my street(i live on a very small street with no more tha 15houses).... they got caught and yes it was right after katrina if i'm not mistaken they were from new orleans by what the cops told our neighbors, which can be frustrating... we help them and yes there's also good people who evacuated, but for the other ones it's like hey we're helping you dont come and rob our houses...there are small children in a lot of our houses, there are possessions we have worked for, we dont want to help and get robbed... i think they should have spread the evacuees more evenly, because we got the big majority in houston

I prefer New Orleans be better protected from storms so the residents cansafely stay there without having to be uprooted and displaced, and burden others. I am sure it is aggravating to be caused to provide charity as you have, but please know that the rest of the nation and the world praises your selflessness.
