Canadian here married to a woman but living smack dab in Gay Central in the West End of Vancouver. Asked around and no, you cannot. Have to apply for a spouse visa and you have to have lived together for a year to "legitimize" that common-law union. They'll let you stay while your application is being processed but it's not like they'll give permanent residence visas to any gay or straight couple who pop in here and get married in Canada.

The bigger question is: Are you prepared for much bigger taxes and less job opportunities up here in Bananada?
