Like how do I go and do a search of someone online that isn't a celebrity or someone famous without having to pay via credit card or money order.

I done searchs on google and yahoo and the websites that given as a link always in some way I have to pay. I am looking for like backgrounds checks on someone I know without that person knowing.

There's lots of ways, it really depends what you're searching for. Search for their name with or without middle initial / middle name, enclosed in quotation marks at Google. Try the same search, but adding "site:myspace.com" (without quotation marks, and if there's too many results then add the city name as well). Do the same but with other popular sites like Xanga, Livejournal, etc. instead of myspace in the above example. Search whitepages.com for their name. Etc., etc.
There's really too much to tell you, since we don't know what exactly you are trying to search for.

Type in various versions and combinations of their name in google and yahoo and see what pops up.

go to www.yahoo.com or www.google.ca and enter their name and click search, should enter other information, like what city and state, cuz you may get other people with the same name.
