I think your ob knows best.I would just follow the doctors orders.Sometimes women go for weeks at only 1cm, especially since women with gestational diabetes have larger babies it is best to induce at 37 weeks to keep from having such a large baby and harder labor.I think you and your child will be fine. The best thing you can do is relax!!!Rest as much as possible and control your diet because of the diabetes.Good luck and Congrats!

A baby is considered full-term at 37 weeks. A baby can survive at only 22 weeks. If you're unsure about the doctor's decision, ask for a second opinion. It's your right. Most doctors don't get offended by this at all and if they do, do you really want him/her delivering your child? Please note, that insurance may not cover the 2nd opinion. Check with your carrier first if money is an issue.
Don't worry about the diabetes if you're eating properly. Diet is key though. (I'm a type-2 diabetic.) You should, however, have your A1C checked annually after the baby is born to make sure the diabetes goes, and stays, away.
And, good luck!
Signed,
A proud papa of a four-year-old!

Do what's best for the baby. Since you have diabetes, you run the risk of having a large baby. It puts more stress on you and the baby if you are trying to push out a 10+ pound baby. Also, inducing at 37 weeks is fairly safe for baby. You may get a shot of steroids just help beef up babys lungs. Your blood pressure may be a factor in labor as well. You run the risk of siezures and cardiac arrest if they can't get you pressure down. If you are in anyway uncomfortable with what your doctor has told you, let him know asap. Or, you can seek a second opinion. Do what you are comfortable with and what's best for baby. Take care and I hope all goes well for you. Keep us informed okay?

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

I'm not versed in ob/gyn, but I would advise you to see an alternative physican as soon as it is convenient for you about gestational diabetes and high blood pressure. Those things can be aleviated.

I believe the baby will be fine, everything on the baby is already developed. The lungs are the last thing to completely develope, but at 37 weeks they are developed enough for the baby to be born, if you can make it to 38 that will be better. I was induced at 38 and my baby was healthy. I wish you the best of luck and congrats on the new baby!!
