What if you were Stephen Hawkings? What ideas has he had that, while potentially able to save this world, have military applications which would destroy it in a heartbeat? Why are there no more developments in technology? (except for corporate or military ones?) Why no "popular science" type of sharing of information?
Looking at the violence in the world around us, how can we expect anyone with that sort of information to pass it on?

If you feel the need to proselytize, please explain why. I am asking about a possible mathematical formula or invention that has already been worked out which might be of great potential benefit, but is being hidden due to possible military applications and I'm hearing about the Trinity and Objectivism. I can almost understand people going off track with God - after all, times are scary - but Ayn Rand? Come now!

Objectiveism.

Ayn Rand.

It is the only plausable Utopia.

Look it up.

Westcoast,
Bear with me for a moment. The solution to the world's problems arrived 2000 years ago. The problem, is that mankind has been trying to make some money off of it, ever since. You have no doubt, heard of a man named Jesus. He came to bring us the solution to all, and I mean all, of our problems on this planet. Unfortunately, in the year 325 A.D. the Roman Emporer Constantine, ordained the Council of Nicea. That council, pretty much wiped out the original teachings of Jesus, and brought much suffering and pain into the world, in His name. To answer your original question, Yes, there is a plan in place to bring our race to a level of awareness that will eliminate our foolish choices, in time. Jesus came to bring us a message. That message has been lost in the junkpile of man made religions. Are you ready? Here it is. "The Kingdom of God is within you". If we come to God, as humble children, and invite Him into our hearts, He will send His Spirit into us. We then become new creatures, part mortal, part Immortal. The old values of materialism and fear, fall away. Love and Wisdom, become the foundation of all our choices. We have embarked on the Path of Eternity, and we will never be the same again. Unfortunately, many thinking people are driven away from this message, and invitation, by man's religions. God does not have any denominations, or churches, He has children. When we have all come to understand that we are One Race, One People, with One Father, there will be peace without end.

I think that if we could get one generation wherein enough of them had enough genuinely educational experiences to really grasp the difference between Education and Stuff That Happens In Class, they would insist on education for the next generation.

That generation would be the ones to make serious headway in solving the solvable problems of the world.

It isn't a case of some one genius. There is an idea floating around, for one example, that would halve extreme poverty.

We just need enough people to be aware of it, and care enough to implement it.

We know a lot about the causes of violence and the causes of altruism, about human learning and about healing. That is, there are people who know these things -- we just have to make the right knowledge widespread enough.

Unfortunately, no matter how many good ideas are out there, I don't think there are any solutions to the world's problems because in today's world greed and power are the modus vivendi. The only way the world can be saved in my humble opinion is to stop all the patriotism and religiosity clap trap and learn how to cooperate and help one another. I probably didn't answer your question. Please forgive me but I felt the need to vent.

No. The answers to the world's problems lie in the mind and the will and the acts of God.

The world has many problems. There are answers. Some of the answers lie in the one brain of a genius. Most of the answers lie in many average brains and we just have to put it all together. THERE ARE NO EASY ANSWERS TO THE BIG PROBLEMS.

i don't think that there is one person... there have been many but we were and are ignorant... Edgar Allen Poe was infamous for his arts and ended up dieing and early age... but now he is one of the most famous in literature... Hitler (though i do hate him because he killed my blood) was a great conductor of war and we use his tactics today... Einstein (if i am not correct correct me) failed second grade and everybody though he was stupid, but he was bored and invented the light bulb and some of the most sufficient ways to conduct electricity and use it... i think that we need to start opening books and being smart... there is a difference between these three... wise, smart, and genius... wiseness has to do with the gathering of life experiences and using them appropriately... smartness has to do with the understanding of books and history, and anyone can do this, they just have to remember... and genius is the ability to understand with never knowing and the ability to think outside the box.... all need to shape our world but we are just to ignorant

I think the one thing that might end a lot of it would be cold fusion. A cheap form of non-polluting energy. It would allow poverty to be overcome and have many other benefits that could solve a lot of the world's problems that poverty and want create.

There's already a force at work to solve the world's problems. It's called providence.

i personally believe that the answer lies in the collective regardless of how good someones idea for resolution to violence and world poverty are they would require the co operation of the masses to implement them
collectively only can our issues if at all be solved it could be speculated that you could never take the animal from the human cycle in reference to violent behavior
