I'm travelling on the road for 2 whole weeks in the southwest from California to Georgia. I have the standard sleeping bag, toiletries, etc. Anything else I should bring with me? I will be stopping at campground, etc

When I take a road trip I always make sure I have a cell phone and a car charger. I always make sure I have snacks and water in a cooler on ice. I also ck in with a family member or friends every time i make a stop i mention the town and maybe a store that I am stopping by just to be safe. I like to bring Cd's that I like and also books on tape.. I also bring a gas can with extra gas just in case. I make sure my spare tire has air and that I have all the tools I need to change it. I also put a fire extinguisher just in case. Then I have fun and enjoy the beautiful country that we live in. Be safe but have fun.

Make sure you also have a couple of gallons of water and a small first aid kit. Check your spare tire before you go as well. A small gas can would not hurt. Also, make sure you have a good road atlas and a compass (in case you get off track) and some $1s and coins for any toll booths you go through

Some car-emergency items :
* Flashlight, batteries and an extra set - in the glove box.
* A couple of quarts of oil
* A gallon of coolant and a gallon of water - remember to mix them 50/50 if you have to add coolant!
* A gallon of potable (drinkable) water in case you are stranded.
* A pair of panty-hose (they can be a makeshift fan belt).
* Duct Tape
* Gas Can (empty - dangerous to travel with a full gas can)
* Blanket (in case you get stranded at night in the desert where it can get cold)

iPod/music, camera, cell phone. You can purchase a power inverter from a truck stop travel plaza or auto parts store which uses you vehicle's engine/electrical system to run household appliances during your travels. If you felt the urge to bring a small refrigerator this would be an ideal time to use said inverter, or it can charge your supplemental electronics.
