Okey, I have a problem here, I have a Sun Ultra 40 Workstation loaded with the Solaris OS.!?

Question

I have tried running the system, but I keep getting a error 0283 FRU@EEPROM. Any help or suggestions???? It is loaded with Solaris as the Operating System.

Hmmm, not familar with Sun or Solaris, but the EEPROM part of the Error message means:

Electronic Eraseable Read Only Memory....

I'm guessing this is the equivilent to PC computer's BIOS ROMs.


Which is supported by a battery on the motherboard. The battery is usually a "button" style battery about the size of a quarter. If the battery is dead all the settings for Memory, drives, etc is lost and the computer will not Boot.

Do you see anything on your screen at start up about "Setting BIOS" or "System settings", etc???
