I've worked for framing companies and am trying to do side work but not sure what to charge. At present, I'm trying to determine what to charge someone for an outdoor ramada 38' x 12.

As a contractor myself...
The first thing you need to know, is how much are the supply and materials going to cost you. Add up EVERYTHING that is going to go into the making of this... soap, even, if you need it. So, the first thing you want to do, is sit down, and start making a list, of every single thing, you can think of, that you are going to need. Get prices on those, and don't forget the tax you are going to have to pay.

Next... how about tools, or equipment... are you going to need to rent anything to build this?

Transport -- if this job is close at hand, this isnt such a big deal.... if you have to drive very far... you want to figure how many trips you are going to have to make, roughly, and how much mileage youre going to run.... then charge for that, to cover your gas, and vehicle expenses.

Finally... how much are you willing to work for? or your crew, if you need extra hands? (A quick rule of thumb -- MOST of the time, the labor will run about equal with the cost of the materials.)

Good Luck!
