Recently, one of my friends has been going through some really tough stuff. I am m and she is f, we are both 15 and BFFLs. She had a crush on an older friend of mine (19) and they became great friends. SHe told him that she "liked" him, but he didnt like her back. Thier friendship is really on the rocks now. She wanted him to call, and when he did, she got really upset, and one of her other friends told the guy not to call or email for a week. Then he did call after a week, and my BFFL was really upset. on IM he told me she was crying when they hung up, so I called her. I talked to her until 3 in the morning trying to console her. She wanted him to ask what was wrong (its something only between him and her) but he never did. She is on vacation now, and keeps asking me if he mentions her or anything when I talk to him. I dont know what to do. I want to do something nice for my BFFL, because I know she is really upset about it, and I dont like to hear/see her cry. What can I do?

Yes, I realize I should cheer her up, but I dont know what I can do to do that. What would she enjoy? Im probably going to call her later to say HI b/c she is on vacation.

I KNOW she is going to ask about him. I want her to have a good time on vacation and not worry about this. What do I tell her, and how can I cheer her up?

This guy actually does care about her alot, and he does want to be a friend for her. He got a GF and since he did, my BFFL has felt really neglected and hurt by him. He used to talk to her all the time, but now he never calls or emails or anything

Be there as her friend. Let her know your shoulders are broad enough for her to lean on and cry. Sometimes that is all you can do. Forgive me for asking but what does BFFLs stand for? Anyway, this one-sided relationship, which it obviously is, is going no where and she needs to realize that there are other fish in the sea. At 15, you two shouldn't be concerned about settling down to just 1. You should be laughing and enjoying yourselves, doing group things. Just try to be as neutral as possible. I mean, on one side, you have your older friend, on the other side, you have this girl who is the same age as you. You are in the middle (don't you just love it?) She sounds like a drama queen, too, by the way. A spoiled little girl who is throwing a temper tantrum because she can't get what she thinks she wants. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but that is life. She will get over it eventually. I pray you can stay sane through it though...lol

Sounds like you are in between a rock and hard place. All you can do is be her friend. All the love in the world you give her is not going to make her feel better, she has to get over it herself and that takes time.

Be there for her and try to help her realize she is wasting her time and energy. This guy wants nothing to do with her. she should stop chasing after him and maybe take a look at someone a lot closer to her. She is only hurting herself by continuing to throw herself at this uninterested fellow.

you don't have to do something to cheer her up just assure her that you are always there for her in times of ups and downs and ready to listen to her problems. you don't have to say something, when she tells you her problem just listen, you dont have to say something. like what is said in the song "you say it best, when you say nothing at all"
