Well gosh, there isn't any laws about it!
I personally think that you should wait until 8th or 9th grade, to do any makeup beyond lipgloss or light concealer. There's nothing worse than a 6th or 5th grader decked out in blush and dark eyeshadow, looking like a tramp.
Less is more, trust me. You don't need to spend an hour piling on pounds of makeup or you will look like a skank, no matter what your age is. But, especially if you're younger. Ask your mom how to put on makeup so that you don't look like a clown. You only need a little bit, to cover up blemishes and make your eyes/lips stand out.

I would say 14, your a teen but not too young! It looks silly seeing a child, let say the age of 12 or 11 wearing makeup, it does. Also why waste your skin at an early age. I only started to wear light makeup last year at the age of 14 and my skin is probably the nicest in my class, even the school. Dont rush it, there is time for everything in your life dont try and grow up to quickly, your never going to be a child again so stay innocent and sweet! Good luck!

my 1 1/2 year old daughter used to put my makeup on for fun.
as a mom, I think makeup should be a case-by-case basis. Some young girls have poor motivation to want to wear it. I believe a well-rounded girl with no self-image issues should earn that priviledge by proving her maturity in other areas. Plus, a girl's changing skin is sensitive, and makeup can sometimes create a problem where none exists.
as a thirty-something girl, I'd say "DON'T GET IN A HURRY, YOU'LL BE WEARING THIS STUFF FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!"

I don't really think that there is a specific age, but I think it depends on if you feel ready and comfortable to wear makeup. I'm 13 now and feel comfortable in makeup, and have been wearing it for about a year. I think makeup is a good thing (in moderation) because it lets you express yourself, and enhances self esteem.

The longer you can wait, the better. Natural beauty is sexier. If it's absolutely necessary, then the late teens would be an appropriate time to start wearing it. The first time I put on make-up was for my high school graduation picture and used is sparingly thereafter. It's been many years and I still have great looking, clear skin.

I think that's a question you should ask your mom. I started when I was 12, but I have a friend that put it on since she was 10. If you start now, whatever your age, start out with a little bit of make-up or else the sudden change will be too drastic. Besides, you have to get the hang of it.

When your ready, when your parents allow. I started with eye shadow and lipgloss at 10, added the mascara around 11, and eyeliner around 13.
