Join a freecycle group. Give away things you don't want any more, and take things people are giving away. Visit http://www.freecycle.org/ and find a group in your area.
This is an environmentally responsible group that wants fewer useful things to end up in landfills.

I have a dumb, obnoxious Bird named Larry, who guard my room from the family, bites the dogs, squawks and screams when I brush him off of me. He also tries to have immoral relations with my feet when I am barefoot. PLEASE take my bird PLEASE!
