When you speak of "African" people, do you mean the dark-skinned majority? Because not all Africans are dark-skinned. Take Charlize Theron as an example (South African).
If you did refer to dark-skinned people, here is an extract from the Wikipedia Online Encyclopedia talking about sunburn:

"The condition occurs when incident UV radiation exceeds the protective capacity of melanin in the skin. Concentrations of this pigment vary greatly among individuals, but in general, darker-skinned people have more melanin than those with lighter skin. Correspondingly, the incidence of sunburn among dark-skinned individuals is lower."

And to answer the second part of your two-part question, here's another extract from Wikipedia:
"Although Jackson's skin color was a medium-brown color for the entire duration of his youth, his skin has lightened gradually since 1982, then it became light tan around 1987-1991, and is today a pale cream color. Jackson has attributed his changing skin color to vitiligo, a skin disease in which the body develops antibodies against its own melanin, a body pigment, resulting in light patches and an eventual loss of all pigment. Jackson first revealed his condition in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 1993. During court depositions in 1994, both Jackson's dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein and his nurse (Deborah Rowe, who Jackson later married) claimed that following a biopsy of his scalp in 1984, Jackson was diagnosed with lupus and vitiligo. As a result of this disorder, Jackson is said to use make-up to cover-up the imperfections in his skin and has denied numerous reports that he bleaches his skin. He has also been told by his dermatologist to avoid any exposure to the sun. Ever since then, Jackson has regularly worn long-sleeved shirts and trousers under an umbrella while in public to hide from the sun."

Therefore, the short answers to both questions is 'Yes'. The dark-skinned peoples of the world take longer to sunburn, and MJ would die if he did!

Yes, blacks can receive sunburns and general sun damage in their skin. The difference is it doesn't occur as easily or as often. But it differs from person to person. My mom, for example, is black. She burns quite easily. I'm mixed black and white. I've burned all of once in my life, and even then I never felt it when it happened, nor was it visible until my skin began to peel. So in short, yes they do, but not very often.

Michael Jackson can most definitely get sunburns. His skin is quite delicate due to his skin disorder that "turned him white", so even a great deal of sunscreen wouldn't be quite enough to help keep him from getting a sunburn. For this reason you usually see him with an umbrella whenever he's out and about. USUALLY.

If black people stay out in the sun for like 20 hours, then maybe but not really. We just get darker, but rarely do we get sunburn. A lot of people say that Michael Jackson bleached his skin, but he really does have some kind of skin disease, I forgot but it starts with a T. That's why he wears an umbrella. Sun would really do damage to his skin.

No. My hubby is black and has never had nor known any black person who has had a sunburn! They do get darker in the summer though!
And yes Michael could get a sunburn because he has lost most of the pigment in his skin and he's also allergic to the sun!

I think anyone can get a sunburn. As to jackson who knows that man probably can because he has some problems health wise and cosmetic issues. I think MJ is very fragile and he is probably more susceptable that most people white or black. He has had so many alteratons and has some health problems.

lol ok, first u need to specify whether u mean straight from Africa people, or do you mean black people in general. either way, i doubt most African "african" people get sunburned too easily. my fiance is "African" and has never been sunburned. he laughed at me when i mentioned i had... so... yeah. as an African American, i can testify that I have gotten sunburned. once. and it was not fun.
