For major islands, there is the group of 8 islands known as the Channel Islands, which are off the shore of southern California. The most well known of these islands is Santa Catalina Island (commonly known as Catalina). It is closest to the Los Angeles / Long Beach area and can be seen from shore. Many tourists and vacationers go to Cataline using ferries from LA or Long Beach - it has a long history of being a playground for celebrities and the rich.

The northern 5 Channel Islands are in Channel Islands National Park, and mostly remain in an undeveloped state. You can reach these islands from ferries and charter boats from Santa Barbara and Ventura.

The southernmost Channel Island is San Clemente Island. It is owned entirely by the US Navy, and so not many civilians get to visit the island. Most of this island is also undeveloped, except where the navy has a few settlements. San Clemente Island can be seen from San Diego.

What exactly are you asking...are there any other beaches in California??? There are TONS of them. Catalina is ONE of the islands, it is one of the Channel Islands, and there are eight islands total, but Catalina is the only one with a "city" on it.

Naples

Naples is a series islands located in Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, California. Naples consists of three separate islands, all with canals running into the bay. The streets on the island all have Italian names. The center of Naples features a large fountain, which over the years, has grown to become a popular meeting spot.

The major thoroughfare in the Naples area is 2nd Street, with Pacific Coast Highway the closest major street.

One very popular Christmas-time event in Naples is the "Parade of Lights", with groups of decorated boats going through the canals and bay. The parade has been held since 1946.

The Long Beach community of Belmont Shore is to the west of Naples, and the Peninsula is to the south, across Alamitos Bay. The city of Seal Beach is to the east.
