They say if you've never had a baby before the first time getting pregnant is always the hardest for some people. I know it took me 3 1/2 years before I was pregnant with my first. After that I couldn't keep from getting pregnant. Everybody is different. I know if you were using birth control it can take more than a year for your body to get back to normal, if it ever does. There are so many variable factors. Consult an OB/GYN, they can usually guide you in the right direction.

If there is a lot of stress in your life, I imagine that can cause some problems in conceiving. If you are trying to hard, that will throw a wrench in it as well, for some reason. . Try praying. While you're at it, you might want to check with your doctor. Are you on fertility drugs? If nothing has worked, then you might not be able to. Rule everything out as possible reasons though before you throw in the towel. What was your health like as a child? Reumatic fever, scarlett fever? Hey, years ago, those were issues. Ever have a tubal pregancy? There are LOTS of reasons why you cannot get pregnant. Examine them all first.

And hey, if you can't get pregnant, I know there are lots of orphaned and unwanted babies needing parents from all over the world that would probably love to have you be their mommy. =)

Exactly how old are you?

Just because you have been trying for a year now and have had no success does not mean you can not have kids.

It can actually take years for some people to get pregnant.. It took my mothers friend like 11 years to get pregnant with her first child but after she had him bang she was pregnant again by the time he was 3 months old.

Some people can have unprotected sex once and bang they are pregnant where others have unprotected sex like 100 times till they succeed in getting pregnant

This is just one of those medical mysteries that has yet to be solved.

If you and your partner have tried for a year unsuccessfully it is time for both of you to see the doctor. The fastest , cheapest and easiest thing to rule out is low sperm count or a problem with sperm motility. Your OBGYN can even write the lab order for your partner and then interpret the results. Once he is ruled out then other tests can be performed to determine if you are ovulating regularly , if there is any blockage preventing the egg from making it to the uterus , or any other fertility problems you may have. (Most of which can usually be dealt with fairly easily) The important thing is that you stop guessing and worrying and talk to a professional who deals with this every day.

It took me five years. After a year (two years, in some clinics) you are considered infertile. This doesn't mean you can't have kids for sure, it just means you've been actively trying for that amount of time without getting pregnant. After a year, though, a fertility specialist might be willing to take you as a patient.

Go to the doctor if you are that concerned. I have found that when I didn't try I ended up getting pregnant. You know that stress can make a difference.

my sister-in-law had been trying for almost 3 years and she just got pregnant a few months ago. don't give up hope! if it's been that long, your doctor should be able to recommend some things to try.

Are you female? Do you have regular periods? If you answered these two with a yes, then have your significant other checked by a doctor, Low sperm counts could be your(his) problem.
