I have tried the fire fox and that didn't help either nor did doing scan disk, disk clean up or defragmenting. any other ideas?

dont' use it.

go to www.firefox.com and download that. use only firefox instead of very rare instances when the format of the website is better viewed in internet explorer, because that happens a bit.
Also, firefox can be completely customized to you're liking with different skins and user options.

In about 2 years I have received maybe 1 error while using firefox

you should contact the internet company and if you have dsl you can also chat with them online, or go to my computer, right click on local disk and click properties and then click on dick clean up. you might to wait a lttle while, after it's done check all of the program and click next.

uhh yah i have the same prob idk why but microsoft tends to make the worst software the only thing that like from them are the mediaplayers and thats about it.i hate all there software specially windows os so now i switched to firefox try it it might or might now work for u i think it most likeley will thouhgt mozilla.com

It's probably because your security settings are too high, you're not allowing scripting or whatever.
