does anyone know why yahoo mail isn't working today - what can I do on my end to fix it?

We are having the same problem. The servers are down, so we could only hope they rectify the problem and will be back soon.

I am able to log into my Yahoo mail but not messenger. Ugh!

I'm in Chicago, IL. and I'm having the same problem.

it must just be in your area because it is working fine for me.
