Place a solid box on a street corner and people will climb atop and begin to preach. This particular question blog is open to anyone and that includes closeted types who feel the best way to deny their sexuality is to pontificate on how hateful it is to be gay. There isn't much that anyone can do in an era that is stridently against sex in all forms. A society that forces labels on to people when they are in their teens. A society determined to push the population of Earth into double digit billions. Organized religion will always condemn & judge others unfairly.

Number one -- if no one answered them they would NOT stop coming here. Look anywhere in history -- to not be answered simply encourages hatred, bigotry and oddly, fear. The "ignore them and they will go away" is one of the great lies we teach our children -- and we shouldn't.

Number two -- many of them are actually gay -- but they have had enormous pressures -- from family and community -- to conform. In the self-hatred that they feel they come forward as homophobes -- because its what they hate and fear in themselves. A good example of this is found in former Spokane mayor West, who passed into spirit today. This is a man who spook out against and hated homosexuals for his entire life. Opposed gay rights in the state assembly and senate -- and as mayor -- and yet had sex with young men and recruited young men as sex partners by using his position to offer them bribes....

Number three -- some of them are trying to feel better about themselves by hurting others. We evolved from a pack animal. The weakest members of the pack -- or those so perceived -- are picked on by others in the pack in order to build self-ego. They get the worst food, the least sex and so forth. We have come a long ways since then -- but the need to have someone weaker or perceived as weaker to pick on is well understood in psychology. It is NOT just gays that become the victims, many other groups do as well.

Number four -- some conflate some of the other reasons with the fact that they have embraced a religion of lies in the form of fundamentalism. All you have to do is look at what fundamentalist versions of other religions (Islam springs to mind as an example) have done in areas where they rule to see what they would do here. Their hatred is irrational AND also fueled by fanatical regard for a bronze age book that was not even around until nearly 400 years after Christ..... (if you want to prove to yourself that it isn't the Word of God -- please consult the website I maintain and read the three pages under the word Bible in the main menu -- it is a primer on why I am sure that the Faith does not require the book.)

Yes they should leave people alone -- but they never will if we whine -- as a friend in a distant country said to me online recently as he and his friends watched the hate filled protest in his own country (not a Christian nation, even in theory) "they only understand greater force than they have." -- It's just as true for our bigots.

So, we are gathering greater force, through coalitions, through knowing people, through just living. Be out, live, love others and take care of them, do not be a jerk -- and you help our eventually equality.

Reynolds

Each of us plays it our own way.........
Don't like the question, go to a different one.
Don't like the answer, don't choose it.

This site is made from many different personalities. Nationalities, Sense of humor. Ages. It Is All Thoughts. And OPINIONS.
In real life you may make it a point to stay away from: Whiners. Alcoholics. Smart-allics, Gran-pa. But here, you do not know who's who.....

Because they won't get it through their thick, Bible-thumping heads that it (usually) is not a choice to be gay, and they want to *safely* vent their anger and opinions in the privacy and protection of their own home.

Also, do they realize that they are just giving Christians a bad name? I'm a Baptist, and I'm disgusted when they come on here, acting all "Holier-Than-Thou," and spouting their opinions, like they really matter--as if they were FACTS!

It disgusts me.

I never understood how "religious" people can be so judgmental and express so much hatred for anybody. I don't ever remember reading anything about God saying He loves everybody except gay people. Such self-righteous hypocrites.

**I'm straight so I'm not biased I'm just fair.

Because they haven't come out of the closet yet and they think that it asserts the fact that they are straight to anyone...(as if anyone cared about them)..but still it convinces them in their own little minds that they are not gay...They'll learn..just give them time.

They have no life. They get off by getting a rise out of people. Don't respond which will make their useless day even less productive

curiosity, they're appalled by the idea/fact that we may be happier than them. that their opinions don't matter, and that we may actually demand to be treated with respect. most everyone has at least thought about gay and people tend to react violently to the things they dislike about themselves.
