Is there any way to cheat a lie detecter test?

My boyfriend cheated on me and he wants to take lie detecter tests to prove that he will stay faithful to me. I would like to know if there is any way to cheat a lie detecter test. His dad was in the army and was wondering if he could have taught my boyfriend how to lie through a test.

A lie dector test is an instument that monitors heart rate, and stuff, when people tell a lie, they get nervious, and thier heart rate increases, unless he believes himslef enough to say a lie and not get nervious [not likely] then the test will tell you if he is telling the truth or not

Yes there is. The most widely accepted way to beat it is to make it useless. Given that the machine measures ubrupt changes in heart rate, it can be fooled by never giving it a "normal" reading. One way to do this is to stick a tack in your shoe and step on it every time you answer. Each time, your heart rate will go up due to the body's response to the pain, and each answer will appear to be a lie. This renders the measurements useless, as every answer will appear to be a lie.

Beyond that, lie detectors are only accurate 40% of the time. You're more likely to detect his lies by asking him directly and using your intuition to determine the veracity of his answers.

I highly doubt your bf's dad could have taught him how to fool a lie detector. I've been in the army for 6 years and never had lie detector training. The only way to fool it, is to fail every single question because you're so nervous, OR have total control over your body's functions such as heartbeat, breathing, anxiety level, etc...

Well it is easy all you have to do is convince your self that your lie is truth. (believe your lie). Controll your heart rate and keep your pulse slow. The only way i no of to cheat a lie detector test. But yes he can still lie and it come back that hes telling the truth.

yes you can beat the test its all on how your blood pressure is and heart rate is. If you go in thinking i never cheated or ill never cheat again and keep saying it over and over in your head then you will beleave it and pass the test. I took the test once just to see if i could beat it and i did. So just go with what your heart is telling you to do ok. If its right you will know and if its wrong let him go

Yes. People can defeat lie detectors which is why they are not admissible in court. I would be VERY careful with this guy.

yes,the simplest and the easiest is to puta tack in your shoe. when you tell the truth, step on the tack, your reading will go up, when you lie, don't step on the tack, and the readings will be the same.

he could clear his mind by putting a tack in his shoe and steppin on it anythin that will clear his mind of the questions being asked
