I always used semi-synthetic.

Its a pain to change to oil your self, because of the side stand, filter removal, and getting the level right. Also need a special tool to remove the filter and its hard to get into, because the exhaust pipes block it. You should change the filter every time as well to make sure everything is very clean.
Japanese bikes are tight and tricky. I did it once, not that fun.

Recommend paying 20-30 bucks, and get a bike shop with a bike jack to do it. They will change the filter, and get everything right.

Remember to change the oil frequently, since its a high revving motor.

i have always used motol oils --- full syn great wear time not that much in $ either----- i have had zx7r zxr750 x 2 and i own a zx10 now all have had motol

you have an owners manual for a resason, use it (if you dont have one your friendly local Honda dealer will get you one)
