If they think it is a guarantee, they are certainly naive. An education, however, does tilt the odds heavily in their favor. Thinking it's a golden ticket, however, is the height of folly.

Of course there is never a guarantee with anything in life--but without an education, a high paying job is almost an impossibility.

Not at all. Education doesnt mean you will know how to keep, navigate upward and grow...but most times the higher you specialize in something the more valuable you become. I am getting my MBA in 2008. I made 28k when I graduated and in 4 years the most ive been able to make is $40k. The MBA avg for Marketing majors at my school was $76k last year. The higher you go the more youll make on a scale with all factors equal. I often worried that I didnt have enough hustle or entrepreneur in me to become successful but its really as easy as doing what my mother always told me to...focus on education. It works....
