cult suicides?

Question

I was wondering where to find more information on a suicide event in the '90's. there were a bunch of people in a house that all committed suicide at the same time, all wearing nike's and all black. I believe they poisoned themselves because they were all laying in beds soundly. if you have information, please share. websites would be great too.

p.s. I put this in television because I heard about it on the vh1 show 'I love the '90's'

Thirty-nine bodies of the cult members were found in a rented mansion in the upscale San Diego community of Rancho Santa Fe, California on March 26, 1997.
Among the dead was Thomas Nichols, brother of Nichelle Nichols, an actress who played Lt. Uhura in the original "StarTrek" series.
Both male and female members of the Heaven's Gate group affected a unisex look, with buzz-cut hair and shapeless clothes. This androgynous appearance led investigators to at first mistakenly identify all of the bodies as young men.
Amongst Applewhite's radical beliefs was the belief that the surgical emasculation of males was a prerequisite for the particular type of salvation that he believed in, which he and many of his male followers were found to have undergone prior to their mass suicide in 1997.

Google "Comet suicide." I remember the incident. They were waiting for a comet that had a spaceship coming in behind it. Aren't people strange?
