After I got my CDL I went to truckdriving school where I completed it but did not pass the skills test. I was working construction for five years but decided change careers and after some practice passed the CDL skills test.How do I notify the state (Washington) and how do I explain this to a future employeer? I am legit now.

Do you really need to explain it? If you weren't arrested and they don't know then don't tell your employer.

If your license is a CDL in good standing and you can actually drive, I do not see a problem. The only thing a future employer will want to know is how much experience you actually have behind the wheel. If you are legit now, noone needs to know you weren't before.

Believe it or not, honesty will work. Not many will fault you for trying so hard just to put food on the table. It sounds like you kept at it until you made it!
