Forget the tie and socks. Which way do you want to turn him? Will you be around for a while and do you want him around? If so, maybe a gift certificate to someplace your mother would like him to take her but he never thinks of. Otherwise, try a gift certificate for a video or comic book store.

Find out what comics and video games he's into, and try to get him something he doesn't have yet... maybe something that's hard to find.

the post office is putting out a series of comic book hero stamps. you could by a sheet and mount them or frame them. he may want to hang it in his home or office. i would.
