It sounds like it was inspired by Depeche Mode back when they were still cool, you know days of the "Black Celebration"

sounds like someone being in an abusive relationship but for some reason they r still in love with the abuser or the abuser will hurt them if they try to leave...

There is always the possibility that this is a song about a dominant/submissive kind of relationship, as well. Some folks have that kind of kink.
