Check your local telphone directory for ecycle businesse, and environmental groups. Many municipalities have numbers and departments that handle such hazardous waste material. If that doesn't work contact the state and federal counterparts. One or more of them should be able to help you out.
Good luck,
Dan.

Try going to a propane dealer usually they will take old propane tanks and dispose of them for you.

The 1 lb. non-refillables can be pitched in the trash. Propane is not an environmental hazard.

We have a store that swaps tanks instead of filling them and they will also take an old one you don't want.

The company reconditions them if they are in decent shape and disposes of them if they are real bad. They took mine free.
