I love our iPod. We have a clooection of over 150 CDs - all of the music from all of these CDs fits onto our iPod, plus music my husband downloaded from the web and several podcasts from itunes- our entire music library fits in it and there is room for more. The sound quality is excellent- my husband is a stickler for perfection when it comes to sound quality and he absolutely loves the iPod. It is small and portable so the convenience is unbeatable- I can listen on a walk or a bike ride with headphones and just stick it in my pocket. It is very easy to use- you can create different playlists for different users (my husband and I have vastly different tastes when it comes to music so he has a playlist htat he can go to and I have one that I can use in a jiffy. We also have a very inexpensive adapter that plugs into our car cigarette lighter and you plug your iPod into it and you can listen to the music from your iPod over your radio and through your car speakers- this is wonderful for long car trips because you can bring your entire music collection with you in a space that fits in the palm of your hand.
So far, I have not heard any negativity about them except they are a little spendy - but I am sure you can get one on eBay pretty reasonably priced or find a sale.

What I like about IPod (although I do not own one) is that of all MP3 players, it has the most accessories. If you go with the less expensive Creative MP3s, which are high-quality, they don't have any accessories at all. No carrying-cases, no docks, nothing... IPods have it all. There is an endless array of accessories, and I've heard that the sound quality is pretty good. I would go with Nano because it is the only real portable item. Anything bigger is actually burdensome, and the non-Nano IPods aren't designed for rigorous use. The Nano is a flash player and so it can be used while jogging or exercising. The full-size is harddrive-based, and so should not be jolted around.

If you travel around, or even like to have continual access to music in your home an IPod is a worthwhile investment. Being able to take music with you any time you might be walking or commuting (train, etc.) is a great ability to have. Also, if you work out it can come in handy. The best feature, I think, is the ability to use a car adapter to take the place of your car radio, or a loading station such as the Bose System to take with you anywhere you go, or even use at home in place of a home stereo system. They are reasonably priced for the amount of use you'll get and additionally, you can go to ITunes and pick any song you like for under $1.00 which I think is a good deal. After all, you don't need to buy an entire CD anymore for just one song you like, when you can just legally download one song. I think if you really like music than go for it.

Do not buy a HP Invent/ apple ipod

the apple ipods are great! we have one and are supporters of such wonderful toys... however after Xmas we bought a second ipod.

thinking it was an original apple ipod but found out it was an Apple/HP product it worked good for about 2months then when it started having issues no one wants to claim it’s issues: Not HP and Not Apple. well 5 months approx $200.00 and many down loads later still no tunes...

Words of advice don’t buy an HP invent/Apple ipod... Ask to make sure you don't buy in to that corporate marriage. You do, you'll get caught in the middle like a step child that no one wants...make sure it is iPod (apples-only)

We live and learn...we tell others

I have an iPod mini and I love it! If you like music you'll love it, too. It's compact and you can take it anywhere you go. There are tons of accessories like cases, clips, earphones, etc. to use with it. I know that there are other mp3 players available, but I don't know what they are like. If you have the money and can afford it, I say go for it!! Good luck and enjoy!

ipods are great. nano's are best. don't get a shuffle. you'll be clicking thru trying to find a good song and that wears out the main battery which isn't replaceable.

i'm not label conscious with electronics and my $ 80 sansa holds 1 gb, it runs on regular AA batteries. i have no regrets about this purchase.

ps i bought it at an after Thanksgiving sale and i'm sure the price has gone down considerably since then.
