I have always prefered to keep my server in my own backyard.
I hardly think that MSN will come and replace the lines if thy go down B.T.will

As you might well have been informed by now, some Yahoo! services are down. This seems to effect all systems that are not used through a browser - ie Yahoo! Messenger.
Typical symptoms include incorrect password, despite it being typed in correct. This is probably because the server(s) hosting Yahoo! Messenger are being updated to incorporate MSN Messenger compatibility, which requires checking Microsoft servers for MSN contacts. This may make the problem worldwide.
Whether MSN is better, though, is a tough question. Yahoo! is much smaller and not so intergrating into the system, so is easier to maintain as a program, but MSN is better as there are occassional updates. Depends on the needs of the user, but with Yahoo! Messenger bragging about being able to read MSN contacts, Yahoo! will have the upper hand with being able to use two networks of friends instead of just one.
Best thing to do is to wait and check back tomorrow, and not to rely on Yahoo! Messenger as a main form of communication.
Completely of topic, the same goes for relying on mobile phones (cellphones) on boats or in planes. They are not reliable due to signal, so best stick to ship to shore radios or VHF radios...

first of all yes yahoo is down tonight...and i have both yahoo messenger and msn messenger...and i don't see how MSN is better...yes yahoo messes up sometimes and well MSN seems to me to be more of a hassle to figure out how to work... yahoo messenger is some simple to use....so in all i'd say there is no better one, there all the same in terms but there are a few that use 3d technology to talk instead of a plain im.... at times any program will go down or not work right...

Just e-mail eachother. And I don't consider MSN much better. The emoticons suck compared to yahoo.
