what is your opinion on racism? have you ever had to deal with it?

i hate it!!! however, i do want to know more opinions....interested in what you go through...or whatnot. thanks! :)

I myself have not had to deal with it, however, I have witnessed it on numerous occasions. Racism is ignorance, no way around it. If you don't give ALL people an equal chance, you cannot imagine what you are missing. Got a really good story about racism in my e-mail the other day, let me know if you want me to send it to you.

I have had to deal with it in subtle ways..I have never been called the "N" word or anything like that but I have been treated differently in employment situations where I was the only Afr. Amer. there. I have been snubbed where my co-workers go out to lunch together and not include me. I dont have those jobs anymore, but I know how that feels. I have had white people try to cut in front of me in line at Dept. stores, but I set them straight!! I love everyone, but I learned that it is not always reciprocated. If you saw the movie " Crash" you can see that everyone is a bit biased/prejudice/racist.

Uh, it's bad. But to different degrees. Jokes are funny because they poke fun at stereotypes (not necessarily just b/c it's race)- and stereotypes are funny. It's very subjective, you just need to take care to interpret things in a non-dramatic matter, especially if racist remarks (or anything else) are stated in a non hostile way.

But, if something is said with maliciousness or malintent, then go crazy on their *** ;)

The very thought of racism makes my skin crawl. Regardless, it is something we deal with on a daily basis. Don't believe me? Look around and study your surroundings.

people who judge others, because of a different culture or religion suck to heaven!!! just think how boring it owuld be on this planet, if everyone would be the same! i dont care if people have another religion or colour of skin! i dont like people who hurt other people or kill or rape or steal or something like that! but who cares about the colour of the skin or religion, as long as the person is nice...

i hate it too. sadly my grandmother and mil are two of the biggest racists i think i've ever met. it's bad in our neighborhood, almost tearing our community association apart -- but it's both sides that are equally guilty.
