It was recently, but unofficially stated that he got the part.Thoughts?

Remember Tom Cruise in Interview with the vampire? How about Michael Keaton in Batman?
Everyone was complaining about the just like in this answers because they werent "right" for the part, with Tom Cruise the writer of the book didnt want him, with Michael Keaton people hated the idea of a comedian playing the Dark Night.
They turned out to be great performances and before Christian Bale, Keaton was the definitive Batman, so my opinion is lets wait and see.

that's pretty strange 2 hear that Heath Ledger will play the Joker. I can't picture him as the Joker. sounds like he's going from a gay cowboy 2 an evil menace.

They could do worse (I'm still leery about Topher Grace as Venom in Spidey 3)but , personally I'd like to see Mark Hamill do it, as he was awesome as the voice of Joker in the animated series, and with the teaser at the end of Batman Begins, it makes sense that Joker might be a middle aged career criminal before assuming the persona.

THAT SUCKS if its true. I don't think he will be very good for the role at all. I heard it was gonna be Adrian Brody or Alan Cumming. Heath Ledger that will be horrible. Whats he gonna do try to bone batman.

I sure as hell hope not. Jack will always be the Joker, but if they have to get someone new they should at least find someone with talent.
